Dare School Board appoints seven to new positions  

After a closed session June 12, Dare County’s Board of Education approved two title changes and seven appointments. 

In the system’s central office, Arty Tillett and Sandy Kinzel are now assistant superintendents. Tillett’s previous job title was chief academic officer. Kinzel’s was executive director of elementary education. 

Effective July 1, David Guiley will retire from the principalship at First Flight Middle School. 

Diane Childress has been appointed principal of First Flight Middle. 

Two people have been named assistant principals at First Flight Middle: Chuck Lansing and Curtis Price. 

Tenia Maurer has been appointed assistant principal at Manteo Middle School and Shannon Castillo will be assistant principal at Manteo Elementary School. 

Paul Marshall was named to a position titled director of school performance. 

Paul Kinsey is now testing coordinator. 

The term for all appointments is July 1 through June 30, 2022.
