Lewis W. Gregory

Lewis W. Gregory, 73, of Kill Devil Hills died at home on Oct. 15 surrounded by his family. He was born in Richmond, Va. to the late Robert Maxey and Ella Thomas Gregory.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy; sons Shawn L. Gregory and wife Cynthia of Mechanicsville, Va. and Richard S. Gregory and wife Svetlana of Kitty Hawk; grandchildren Shane, Alec, Daniel, Alisa, Jarrod and Bret; brother Robert H. Gregory and wife Bernice of Hopewell, Va.; sister Gwen Gregory Vincent and husband Roger of Varina, Va.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lew graduated from Hopewell High School and Richard Bland College and served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired in 1997 after spending 25 years in the fire service with Henrico County, where he attained the rank of captain. He was a member of Duck United Methodist Church, a former member of the Outer Banks Chorus and sang in the Outer Banks Presbyterian church’s special music programs.

A celebration of life will be held 3 p.m., October 28 at Duck United Methodist Church.  Friends are invited to visit the family from 3-5 p.m., October 27 at Russo’s Bistro in Kitty Hawk.
