Stormy weather expected starting late Friday

Stormy weather is forecasted to come our way. A low pressure area will track just inland of the northeast North Carolina coast late Friday afternoon.

Gale force winds will blow southeast, sustained at 25 to 30 miles per hour with gusts to 40.

The system will bring 1 to 2 inches of rain with locally higher amounts possible.

As the system lifts into southeast Virginia, the winds will shift west. By noon on Saturday, the west winds will blow 15 to 20 miles per hour.

As of late Thursday morning, the National Weather Service does not foresee any soundside issues with this storm.

A gale watch is in effect for Pamlico Sound Friday afternoon into Friday night. Seas of two to four feet are expected.
