WANCHESE, NC ­- Robert Lyle Payne, 80, of Wanchese, NC died on Monday, February 12, 2018, after losing his battle with cancer.

Lyle was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Joan Barnett Payne; his parents, Wilma Basnight Payne and Robert Lutrell Payne; and a sister, Carolyn Jean Payne.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Danchise and husband, Tommy; a son, Tracy Payne and wife, Katrina; three grandchildren, Kera Miller and husband, Lonnie, Rylee Payne, and Ryder Payne; and two great-grandchildren, Landon and Avery Miller all of Wanchese. Also, surviving are two brothers, Ronnie Erwin Payne and Darryl Lee Payne; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Twiford Colony Chapel. Burial will take place at Cudworth Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and all other times at the home of Patty and Tommy.
