COA’s Lucretia White Earns National Recognition

At College of The Albemarle, faculty member Lucretia White was honored for outstanding service.

On Thursday, Feb. 22, Lucretia was honored with the Gladys R. Shaw Outstanding Service to Developmental Education Students Award, sponsored by the National Association for Developmental Education. The award was presented at the annual conference at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

She received a plaque, a $500 stipend and an invitation to present at the next annual conference. This award recognizes long-term service to developmental education students by an association member.

Lucretia White was nominated for this award by the North Carolina Association for Developmental Education. She attributes the award to the coinciding 2017 Hilda P. Barrow Outstanding Developmental Educator of the Year Award she received at the end of last year.

“I appreciate the recognition from my peers. This award is truly a blessing and an honor for the college and me,” said Lucretia.
