During February, TRIO/Student Support Services challenged Beaufort County Community College students to complete a Black history quiz.  On February 28, TRIO/SSS invited all students to a Black History Month celebration to reveal the answers to the Black History STAR Challenge Quiz and to share little known facts they discovered in completing the quiz. Questions from the quiz covered a variety of topics ranging from politics to sports. Over 40 students, including Early College High School students, accepted the challenge and completed the quiz.

FIRST PLACE WINNER Destiny Daniels with Dorothy Jordan, director of TRiO/SSS.

At the celebration, TRIO students Jasmin Ebron, Roxanne Tate, Kiersten Zimmerman, Keisha Bonner, and Courtney Zimmerman revealed the answers to the quiz. Students and staff shared the research or the facts that supported answers to the most difficult questions.

Students who completed the quiz with at least 75% accuracy were entered in a special drawing for prizes.  Prize winners were:

1st prize – $25 Walmart gift card – Destiny Daniels

2nd prize – $15 Subway gift card – Keisha Bonner

3rd prize – $10 BCCC College Grill gift certificate – Brianna Harris.

Tashawna Scott, TRIO student development coordinator, shared, “We thank all who accepted the challenge.  We appreciate the enthusiasm of the students who participated and congratulate the winners of the drawing.”
