Nags Head police officer Shane Allen has graduated from the North Carolina Justice Academy’s School Resource Officer Program. Officer Shane, as he is known at Nags Head Elementary, completed over 400 class hours and significant training to become the 198th person to complete the program since its inception in 2002. School resource officers are career law enforcement officers with a community-oriented policing assignment who act as educators, informal counselors/mentors and law enforcement officers at our nation’s schools. They provide valuable resources to school staff members, foster positive relationships with youth, develop strategies to resolve problems affecting youth and protect all students.
