Forum for primary candidates set for April 20

A forum for primary candidates running for state offices will be held Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. at Waverider’s Coffee, Deli and Pub in Nags Head.

Agreeing to participate are Bob Steinburg and Clark Twiddy who are running for the Republican nomination for the North Carolina Senate District 1 seat

Candidate Bobby Hanig running for the GOP nomination for the state House in new District 6 has committed. His opponent Beverly Boswell has not agreed at this time.

D. Cole Phelps, one of two candidates for the Democratic nomination for the Senate seat has agreed to participate. The other candidate Steve James has a conflict at this time.

The forum is hosted by The Outer Banks Voice and Mile Post magazine.

“Rather than a typical debate with stringent time limits, it will be an open discussion of the issues over two hours. Candidates will be asked questions formulated by staff members of The Outer Banks Voice and Mile Post.

“A video feed of the forum will be streamed via Facebook Live and available for on-demand viewing,” states the announcement on The Outer Banks Voice.
