Jerry Lynn Boyce

ELIZABETH CITY, NC – Jerry Lynn Boyce, 65, of Elizabeth City, died on Wednesday, April 4. He was born in Elizabeth City, NC to the late Richard E. Boyce, Jr. and Shirley Jordan Boyce, and the husband of Marta Harrell Boyce of the home. He was an investigator with the Pasquotank Sheriff’s Department. He previously served for seventeen years as the Fire Marshall with the Elizabeth City Fire Department. He spent ten years as a Probation Officer before returning to the Elizabeth City Police Department where he was a Homicide Detective until he retired in January of 2011. He began at the Pasquotank Sheriff’s Department in February of 2011.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Kimberly Boyce Hunt (Ty) of Elizabeth City, NC; a step-daughter, Tara Price Hunter (Jason) of Chesapeake, VA; a sister, Linda Ball (Jimmy) of Hertford, NC ; three brothers, Richard E. Boyce, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA Gene “Bubba” Boyce (Jett), and his twin brother Terry Boyce (Deann) all of Elizabeth City, NC; two granddaughters, Christina Mullis and Daniele Mullis.; two nephews, Ryan Boyce (Leeann) and Will Owens; a niece, Christian Boyce-Inscoe (Melissa); and a great nephew Turner Boyce-Inscoe

A funeral service was to be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at Berea Baptist Church Family Life Center with the Rev. Jason Wise officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
