Expect road closures for Flying Pirate Half Marathon

The Flying Pirate Half Marathon starts this morning at 7 a.m., and some road closures will be in place for the event.
The course winds through the natural beauty of Outer Banks. Beginning in Kitty Hawk, the race follows along the Albemarle Sound goes around the Wright Brothers National Memorial and through the Nags Head Woods Maritime Forest. Runners cover 13.1 miles and some spectacular ground.
The marathon finishes with a Pirates Jamboree Post Race Party.
Proceeds benefit go to the Dare Education Foundations and the Outer Banks Relief Foundation.
The following road closures will be in place during the marathon, from about 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.:
The Woods Road at Dominion will be closed, as will all of Woods, Twiford and West Kitty Hawk roads from Twiford to Moore Shore, and Moore Shore to Beacon.
