A Coast Guard boat crew pulled six people from a boat that had ran aground and was taking on water near Bonner Bridge Friday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received the distress call and deployed boat crews from Station Oregon Inlet, as well as issuing an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast to notify other mariners in the area.
Station boat crews launched on a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat and a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft—Shallow Water to respond. The people were transferred to the Motor Lifeboat and taken to Pirate’s Cove Marina. No injuries were reported.
Salvage operations are being conducted to recover the boat.
