Dare, Hyde and Tyrrell counties are under a flash flood watch through tonight as Subtropical Storm Alberto is set to bring two to four inches of rain to the area.
Rain will overspread the Outer Banks this afternoon, with heavy rainfall through the day, the National Weather Service says.
The heavy rain threat should end this evening, but bouts of showers, heavy at times, will persist through midweek, the weather service said.
Alberto, with top winds of 65 mph this morning, is set to make landfall near Destin, Florida later this afternoon.
