The Roanoke Island Historical Association, producers of “The Lost Colony,” has set free tickets for local residents this month on the first three Fridays in June with a donation of non-perishable food items for local food pantries.
The free nights are June 1, 8 and 15, and are sponsored by Midgett Insurance Agency.
The June 1 Dare Night performance benefits Lifeline Outreach OBX, the June 8 performance benefits Roanoke Island Food Pantry and the June 15 performance benefits Beach Food Pantry. The show starts at 7:45 p.m. and guests are encouraged to arrive early. Tickets will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.
In addition to the food or dry goods donations, residents are required to show proof of Dare County residency.
Pre-performance donation collection begins at 6 p.m. Recommended items for the food drive include canned vegetables, fruits, meats, soups and beans; tomato and pasta products; cereals; toilet paper and paper towels. There are no rain checks with these free tickets.
The Lost Colony runs through August 22 at the Waterside Theatre located on the grounds of the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. The show plays nightly except Sunday. Visit www.thelostcolony.org for information on additional events including Royal Tea, “The Hunting of the Snark” children’s show and The Lost Colony Wine and Culinary Festival.
