A Kill Devil Hills man was arrested in Hyde County on Saturday afternoon after authorities say he fled from a deputy who tried to pull him over.
The incident began about 2:20 p.m. when a corporal attempted to stop a car on US 264 near Pamlico Shores Produce, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The vehicle turned off the highway onto a dirt road in an attempt to avoid the deputy, driving 1.5 miles before coming to a stop.
Paul Donald Price of Kill Devil Hills was arrested and charged with exceeding the posted speed limit, no operator’s license, DWI and misdemeanor speeding to elude arrest, the news release said.
He was released on bond with a July 18 court date.
