Authorities conduct traffic checkpoint near Pirate’s Cove

Were you stuck in traffic on Highway 64 between Pirate’s Cove and Manteo Thursday night? No calamity was afoot, it was a planned checkpoint.
Authorities were conducting a traffic safety station, said Dare County sheriff’s Maj. Jeff Deringer. It wrapped up around 11 p.m.
No word yet on how many citations issued.
