Woodrow (Woody) Thomas Stetson

February 18, 1969 – July 23, 2018

Woodrow (Woody) Thomas Stetson, 49, of Wanchese, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, July 23, 2018.

He is survived by his wife, Tena Miller Stetson; children, Joel and Tiah; stepson, Ryan Vance and step-granddaughter, Ryleigh.

Woody was the son of Rusty and Caroline Stetson of Wanchese and the brother of Sprague and Barry Stetson. He was born in Elizabeth City and raised in Wanchese and North End Manteo surrounded by family and lifelong friends he loved.

He was employed by W.S. Stetson, Inc. but enjoyed his life as a commercial fisherman most of all. Woody was energetic, athletic, full of personality, and loved to share his stories about people and experiences.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at Bethany United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Tillett Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Twiford Colony Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to House of Prayer (5884 Riverdale Drive, Jamestown, NC 27282), The Master’s Craftsman (145 Airport Road, Manteo, NC 27954) or Dare Challenge (PO Box 123, Wanchese, NC 27981).
