National Night Out includes lip-sync filming in KDH

The Kill Devil Hills Police Department has accepted the national police department lip sync challenge, and they can use your help. Join the department at National Night Out tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 5-8 p.m. in the Lowe’s parking lot as the department films portions of its lip sync video.

Filming begins at 6:30 p.m. and the public is invited to participate in a crowd-singing portion for the segment. The song will be announced at the event.

Nags Head’s police department will also host National Night Out festivities tonight at the Ark International Church at 113 West Villa Dunes Drive near Mile Post 11.5, from 5-7 p.m.

At the event, neighbors will have a chance to “meet and eat” with the public safety personnel charged with protecting the community.

In Manteo, night out festivities will include free hamburgers and runs from 4-7 p.m. at First Assembly of God on Wingina Avenue. Kids will also get the chance to see up close a Roanoke Island Volunteer Fire Truck, a Dare County EMS ambulance, and a display from the NC Marine Fisheries. For more information contact the Manteo Police department at 252-473-2069.

In Hyde County, National Night Out events will be at Davis Center Park at 33478 US 264 in Engelhard on Aug. 7 starting at 6 p.m.

The event is free and all are welcome. Anyone can register for a free raffle upon entering the event, which will include many giveaways from local businesses, such as a $50 gift card to Spoon River, $25 gift card to Chris’s Grocery, or a fishing pole from R.S. Spencer True Value. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Martelle’s Restaurant, Sugar & Spice and Davis Youth Center.

In Tyrrell, National Night Out will be from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Tyrrell Hall. There will be free food, children’s activities, emergency equipment on display, a K-9 demonstration, and local emergency responders and other groups on hand with materials and information.
