Currituck launches swimming-condition text alerts
Currituck County has established a new opt-in text messaging alert system for swimming conditions in Corolla and Carova.
Anyone may join the free service to receive a text message if a hazardous condition is present that affects swimming. Examples include red flags, rip currents, or bacterial contamination. Alerts will only be sent out when there is a hazardous condition.
To opt into the system, citizens should text SAFECOROLLA to 888777.
The service will be managed by the Currituck Tourism Department. For more information, contact Tameron Kugler, tourism director, atTameron.kugler@currituckcountync.gov or 252-435-2947.
