Betty Ball Davenport

Betty Ball Davenport, 92, of Columbia, died early Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Born in Beaufort County on April 20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Benton and Patsy Ann Jackson Ball. She was married to Willie Webster Davenport who preceded her in death. She and her husband were among the founding members of The Assembly of Praise where she served for many years and later became a member of the Columbia Christian Church. She worked for a number of years as nutrition site manager for the Albemarle Commission at their Tyrrell County site. Later, she found great pleasure in serving as a receptionist at the Visitor’s Center in Columbia.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at The Assembly of Praise. Steve Bryan will officiate. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are a son, Jack Davenport and wife, Cindy; daughters, Harriett D. Jones and husband, Lawrence, Bernice D. Kitts and husband, David and Sue D. Getty and husband, Jeff all of Columbia and Peggy D. Keeter and husband, Jerry of Chesapeake, VA; a brother, Lee Ball of Washington; sisters, Nellie Liverman of Chaptico, Maryland and Jeanette Whitehead of Wichita, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Fran Aziere; three sons, Billy, Robert and Ricky Davenport; a grandchild, Beau Davenport; a great-grandchild, Jerry Lee Keeter III; three brothers, Troy, Mayhue and Rodman Ball; three sisters, Lola Cox, Ann Harrell and Marie Jackson.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Columbia Christian Church Youth Program, P. O. Box 604, Columbia NC 27925.
Friends may visit with the family at Bryan Funeral Service in Columbia on Monday between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
