Charles (Carpenter) Schrappe, Jr.

Charles (Carpenter) Schrappe, Jr., 92, of Duck, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018.

Born in Anson County on June 23, 1926, he was the son of the late Pearl Carpenter. At the age of 14, he began to drive a school bus for Anson County. Charles served his country honorably in the United States Navy during Pearl Harbor.

In 1954, he moved to Virginia Beach, where he would enjoy a career of selling mobile homes for 64 years. He was also a member of Kempsville Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ocie Lee Mills Schrappe of Pageland, South Carolina.

He was a loving husband and father. Survivors include two children, Suzanne Davis and Barbara Vogt and husband, Steven all of Duck; grandson, Charles Grant Vogt and wife Nicole of Marlton, New Jersey and two great-grandchildren, Brenden and Ethan Vogt.

The family will hold a service at Mount Moriah Church Cemetery in Marshville. Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.TwifordFH.com.
