Annual Holiday Tour of Homes set in Manteo

The Annual Holiday Tour of Homes in Manteo on Roanoke Island is scheduled for Saturday, December 1. Included on the tour are several of the historic island homes, a home built by the “Manteo way of life” guidelines, a renovated dual-purpose office/home building and two historic Inns. The locations will be festively decorated and open for the tour.

The Homes will be open from noon until 6 p.m. Outer Banks Distilling, home of the Kill Devil Rum, in Manteo will serve as the check-in point for the tour. Light refreshments will be served there and afternoon tastings for tour-goers will be offered.

Participants will be given a brochure that includes a map of the tour route. Walking or biking the tour encouraged, allowing tour-takers a chance to view other homes and businesses along the tour route. Manteo Cyclery has donated the usage of bikes during the tour on a first come, first serve basis.

The Manteo Preservation Trust sponsors the tour to encourage the public’s understanding and appreciation of the historic heritage of Manteo and Roanoke Island, both architecturally and culturally. The Holiday Tour of Homes is one of the highlights of a festive weekend of events in Manteo.

The Holiday Tour of Homes cost is $20 per person. Ticket sales begin at 11:30 a.m. on tour day at Outer Banks Distilling, located at 510 Budleigh Street in Manteo.
