Floyd Maylon Woodley

“Chief” Floyd Maylon Woodley, 79, of Plymouth, died November 11 surrounded by his family.

Born in Creswell on May 27, 1939, he was the son of the late Joe Thomas and Marie Phelps Woodley. He was married to the former Carol Ann Armstrong, who survives.

He was a member of the Plymouth Church of Christ. He served his country with the United States Airforce during the Korean Conflict. His professional career was dedicated to law enforcement, beginning in 1966. In 1972 he became the chief of the Plymouth Police Department, where he served until his retirement in 1994.

A memorial service was sett 2 p.m., Saturday, November 17 at the Plymouth Church of Christ. Bob Moulden and Bill Lucas will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Tim Woodley of Roper and Charles Woodley and wife, Shelley of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren Ian Woodley, Josh Woodley, Matthew Woodley and Blake Woodley; brothers J.T. Woodley and Steven Woodley and wife Shaun of Pea Ridge and sister Glenda Barnes of Creswell.

He was preceded in death by sister Della Woodley.
