The Roanoke Island Garden Club starts decorating for the season

The Roanoke Island Garden Club is inviting the public to join club members at the Maritime Boat Museum on Saturday, November 24 at 9 a.m. to assemble wreaths, garland, lights, etc. and to decorate certain sites in downtown Manteo.  Attendees are asked to bring their garden gloves, cutting tools and fresh greens to supplement the club’s decorations.

The town’s holiday festivities and tree lighting will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, November 30 on the front porch of the restored historic courthouse, which houses the Dare County Arts Council. Entertainment, hot chocolate, Brunswick stew and other goodies await all.

On Saturday, December 1, the parade will leave Manteo High School at 10:30 a.m.  The parade route runs from the school down Wingina Street, turning left onto John Borden Street, then right onto Croatan and then Queen Elizabeth Avenue with reviewing stands in front of the courthouse. The parade will exit down Fernando and end at the College of The Albemarle campus (old middle school).  Following the parade, the MES-PTO Winter Wonderland will be held at Manteo Elementary School. There will be photos with Santa, craft and vendor booths, local food trucks, bounce houses for the kids, free games and more.

Also Saturday afternoon, the Manteo Preservation Trust is sponsoring their 14th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes from noon until 6 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at Outer Banks Distilling at 510 Budleigh Street. There, you will be provided a map of the tour.
