Hubert C. Jackson

Hubert Calvin Jackson, 86, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, November 20 at Wake Med Health and Hospital, Raleigh.
Born in Tyrrell County, March 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Shadrick and Elsie Colston Jackson. He was first married to Lois Jackson, who preceded him in death, and he later married the former Doris Gibbs, who survives.
He was a member of the Soundside Free Will Baptist Church and served his country with the United States Coast Guard and later he retired from the North Carolina Ferry Division as a ferry captain on the Hatteras-Ocracoke route.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 26 at 11 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Service Columbia Chapel. Royce Reynolds will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow.
Also surviving are sons Kenny Jackson and wife Angela Kevin Jackson and wife Rossie, all of Buxton; Kurt Jackson of New Bern; daughters Barbara Jackson of Frisco, Sondra Grandfield and husband Jim of Virginia Beach, Va. and Nancy Goldman and husband Michael of Belleview, Fla.; sister Faye Hassell and husband J.P. of Currituck and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Shadrick Jackson Jr. and sister Grace J. Covington.
