Carlos E. Cross

Carlos Edward Cross, 75, formerly of Roper and resident of Crawfordville, Fla., died on Wednesday, November 28 in the Margaret G. Dozier Hospice House in Defuniak Springs, Fla.

Born in Defuniak Springs on October 10, 1943, he was the son of the late John William and Evelyn Pearline Watson Cross. He retired from the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam era and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. Following his retirement from service, he worked as an accountant and with the Florida Department of Corrections. He also pastored several churches.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 11 at the Scuppernong Church of Christ.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria of Crawfordville;  two sons, Carlos Eli Cross and Christopher Edward Cross, both of Roper; two daughters, Tonya K. Ayers and Amanda Carol Cross, both of Roper; five step-children; two brothers, Cecil Cross of Irving, Texas and Jerry Cross of Kingsland, Ga.; three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
