Mariah Violet Moore

Mariah Violet Moore, age 22, died suddenly and unexpectedly December 11, 2018 in Martin County.

Mariah was born on May 2, 1996, in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was a lifelong resident of the Outer Banks. She attended First Flight Elementary School then transferred to Manteo Middle School and graduated from Manteo High School in 2014. She was a senior at East Carolina University majoring in Business and Fashion Merchandising with a scheduled graduation in May of 2019.

When Mariah was not at school, she would be enjoying time with her friends at the beach and traveling. She often came home to the Outer Banks in her free time to see her loved ones and to soak up the sunshine and ocean, two of her favorite things. She enjoyed her summers working at Foxy Flamingo Boutique in Nags Head.

Mariah is survived by her mother, Heather Anne Moore and significant other Chris Edwards and his children; sister Victoria Hope Moore of Charlotte; brother David Kyle Gradeless, United States Navy Sailor; maternal aunt Tami Lynn Williams and significant other Chase Fitzgerald and children Layla, Lilly and Scarlet of Parkersburg, WV; grandparents James and Marianne Gradeless and son, Jimmy Gradeless of Southern Shores; great-grandmother Violet Bunner of Parkersburg, WV; uncles Ray Moore and wife Dola and children of Nags Head, Kirby Moore and wife Janice and children of Nags Head, Ward Moore and wife Debbie and daughter of Nags Head and Spencer Moore and children of Kill Devil Hills; paternal aunts Elizabeth Moore Brooks and husband Howard and children of Virginia Beach, Va. and Juliet Moore Parkman and husband Mike and children of Virginia Beach, Va.

Mariah was preceded in death by her father James Mitchell Moore, maternal grandmother Carol L. Williams and paternal grandfather Edmund Moncure Moore.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16 from 2 until 4 p.m. at Twiford Funeral Home in Manteo. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 17 at Manteo First Assembly with burial following at Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens.
