Cheryl Wescott Humphrey, 52, of Oak Hall, died February 15 due to a long battle with cancer.

Born on December 22, 1966 in Salisbury, Cheryl grew up on the Shore and in the Outer Banks. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and DIY projects. Her children are what gave her motivation.

Cheryl was preceded in death by father Lloyd Wescott and brother Patrick Wescott.

She is survived by her mother Jo Anne Whitehurst Young and husband Lonnie Medlin; daughter Amanda Humphrey and husband David Padgett; sons Zachary Humphrey and wife Maria, Ryan Humphrey and Caleb Humphrey; five grandchildren; two nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 1 p.m. from the Acts the Apostle Church in Temperanceville with Rev. Robert Johnson officiating.

Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley, Va.
