Thomas Everett Baker, 76, of Kill Devil Hills died February 21, 2019.

Born in Bertie County on January 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Bessie Cofield Baker and Rufus Josephus Baker.

Thomas served his country honorably in the United States Army. From 1963 until 1986, he served as the secretary/treasurer for Flowers Baker Company. In 1986, he became the procurement manager at Kotarides Baking Company/Mary Jane Bakery until his retirement in 2002.

Thomas is survived by his life partner of 25-years Darlla McKelvy; son Brian Everett Baker; and sister-in-law Betty Walker Baker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rufus Darrell Baker.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Colerain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org.
