Hallet Barton “Pete” Oliver

Hallet Barton “Pete” Oliver, 79, of Roper died Thursday, February 28 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 20, 1939 in Washington County he was the son of the late Ernest Barden Oliver and Ida Jones Oliver and was preceded in death by his great granddaughter Ella Lee; sister Jeannie Oliver Rose; brother Elmer Lynn Oliver; sons-in-law,Mitch Wynn and Steve Hughes.  Pete was a retired farmer and member of Roper Pentecostal Holiness Church.

His family includes his wife Darlene Landis Oliver of Roper; daughters Kim Oliver Hughes, Kathy Oliver Rea, Amy Oliver Edwards and husband J.B. all of Plymouth; sons, Mark Oliver and wife Terry of Jamesville and  Michael Oliver and wife Jennifer of Salemburg; sister Sue Oliver Hardison and husband R.J. of Plymouth; brother Bill Oliver and wife Mae of Roper; former son-in-law, Robin Rea; nineteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at Jamesville Christian Church with Pastor John Hilts officiating. Private family burial will follow in the Oliver Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday at the church following the service and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Coach Pete Oliver Memorial Scholarship Fund, 2700 Jerden Thicket Road, Jamesville, N.C. 27846.
