Tyrrell County tax collection report released

Tyrrell County tax administrator Sylvia Brickhouse recently released the department’s collections report for February.

Property owners paid $46,364 on the real estate levy and $11,023 in solid waste fees for 2018. Smaller amounts were paid on prior year accounts, bringing the total collections for the month to $69,745.

On February 28, unpaid balances for 2018 taxes and solid waste fees were $445,625. For 2017 it was $144,264; for 2016 it was $70,174; and smaller amounts for all years back to 2001 brought the total owed the county to $862,713.

The unpaid $35 annual LCID fee for use of the rubble field on Smith Lane stood at $21,718. LCID is the acronym for Land Clearing and Inert Debris, a general indicator of the types of waste that are acceptable at the Tyrrell site.
