Fried shrimp lunch and dinner and History Event. 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Swan Quarter Volunteer Fire Department. Adults $10, children under 12 $5.

History event. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., David Cecelski, historian and author will sign and sell his book “Along Freedom Road Hyde County, North Carolina and the Fate of Black Schools in the South” at the Swan Quarter Volunteer Fire Department. Proceeds from sales donated to the volunteer fire department. At 3 p.m., a North Carolina Highway Historical Marker titled “Hyde County School Boycott” will be dedicated at Hyde County Government Center, 30 Oyster Creek Road, Swan Quarter. Cecelski will be the guest speaker.

Fish Fry. Hatteras Volunteer Fire Department. 5 p.m. Plates of locally caught fried fish, cole slaw, potato salad and hush puppies. Large plates $12, small $8. Desserts $1. Tea. Eat out back on picnic tables. Or take home. Serving goes until fish runs out.

 

SUNDAY, May 26
