Outer Banks SPCA begins shelter manager search

With the departure of John Graves, director and shelter manager, the Outer Banks SPCA (OBSPCA) will immediately begin a search for a new shelter manager. The Outer Banks SPCA and its Board of Directors announced through a release that effective Thursday, May 30, Graves has transitioned out of the organization.

An interim shelter manager is expected to be named soon, the staff and volunteers will be led by a leadership team and Board of Directors. The organization hopes to bring on a new leader who will take OBSPCA to the next level. In the interim, the OBSPCA will continue moving ahead with a new shelter and new additional programs.

The Outer Banks SPCA staffs and operates the Dare County Animal Shelter, which is an open-admission shelter and has been serving the community for over 25 years. The OBSPCA is charged with enforcing Dare County animal ordinances.
