Participants in the Currituck County Historical Society’s Independence Day kids parade were given a two dollar bill to mark the event.

Eighteen young bicyclists decorated their bikes and were among the 70 people who gathered at the Currituck County Courthouse to hear a reading of the Declaration of Independence.

The illustration on the two dollar bill replicates the famous oil painting depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence by John Trumbull.
