Thomas Lee “Tommy” Woolard

Thomas Lee “Tommy” Woolard, 81, of Plymouth, died July 21, 2019 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

Born August 16, 1937 in Beaufort County, he was the son of the late Carney Lee Woolard and Retha Peed Woolard and was preceded in death by his brother, Carl M. Woolard. Tommy was a retired machine tender with Weyerhaeuser Corporation and served in the North Carolina National Guard.

Survivors include wife Jean Warren Woolard of Plymouth; daughters Susan Woolard Aiken and husband James of Atlanta, Ga. and Leigh Woolard Staelin and husband Adam of Chapel Hill; sister Jean Woolard Porter of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren Elizabeth Aiken, Harrison Aiken, Frances Staelin, Kennan Staelin and Jackson Staelin.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on July 24 at 11 a.m. at The Roanoke River Maritime Museum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ocracoke Working Waterman’s Association, PO Box 1165, Ocracoke, NC 27960 or to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at www.cff.org at the Raleigh Chapter, 7101 Creedmoor Road Suite 130, Raleigh, N.C. 27613.  Family will receive friends at other times at the residence.
