For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose. Philippians 2:13

I think most everyone knows what a GPS is. Many cars and boats have them and are useful in navigating us from one point to another. GPS is the abbreviation for a global positioning system: a system that can show the exact position of a person or thing by using signals from satellites. And oh how many of us rely on them to tell us where to turn when we are in unfamiliar territory!

Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could plug into the Bible with a simple cord and immediately get directions on what to do and where to go. Which turns to make on our journey. Best of all to avoid the jams and trouble up ahead with an alternate route!! Unfortunately that little cord and special technology will never exist.

Part of our journey of faith and trust in God is to learn to wait on Him. How many times do we feel lost or forgotten and feel abandoned by the God that professes His love for us!! It happens. We often slip into those valleys and begin a downward spiral of self pity. But the truth is He has not forgotten us. His silence may be a signal that he is working behind the scenes for us. Perhaps he is using silence to bring us closer to Him. You know, when you can’t hear something you tend to lean in! We must always know and rely that God is for us and not against us. Our trust and faith means so much to Him. My dear grandmother had a saying that I remember to this day . . . “and this too shall pass”. Focus on God and not the valley. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
