Snowy egret: On the hunt for food

Published 6:32 am Saturday, October 26, 2019

In a continuous search for food such as insects, crustaceans, worms, fish and frogs, the snowy egret will hop, hover, shuffle and basically do whatever it takes to stir up creatures to eat.

Years back, these tall, beautiful birds were prized and killed for the hat and clothing industry who only desired selected feathers as decoration. Through conservation efforts, the snowy egret and other birds hunted for their feathers are making a slow recovery.
