ESA: Outer Banks NC District final 2019 season surf contest

The final surf contest of the local 2019 season was held on Saturday, October 26 at Jenette’s Pier in Nags Head. The local district director, Ricky Brake, with lead volunteer assistants JoAnn Brake, Perry Creef and Shawn Deane, set up the contest in waist high clean waves starting at 9 a.m. They finished by 1:30 p.m. in deteriorated surf conditions. Five local contests were held this season.

The Outer Banks N.C. district is the local district of the Eastern Surfing Association, a national organization.

The 2020 contest season will begin in May of 2020 and run through late October. To learn more about the ESA or to become a member, go to www.surfesa.org and select the OBNC district.

The results of the contest for the top 6 place finishers in each division are:

Girls U14 Shortboard: Maili McManus, first place.

Girls U16 Shortboard: Maili McManus, first place.

Boys U14 Shortboard, from first through sixth place winners: Will Deane, Nathan Tsonev, Vance Plevyak, Cose Stoyanoff, Curren Brieholz and Noah Savage.

Open Shortboard, from first through sixth place winners: Kai Wescoat, Will Deane, Stephen Muglia, Perry Creef, Nathan Tsonev and Noah Goetsch.

Boys U16 Shortboard, from first through fifth place winners: Will Deane, William Forrest, Nathan Tsonev, Kai Wescoat and Will Robinson.

Boys U12 Shortboard first and second place winners: Justin McManus and Jesse Ottley.

Boys U18 Shortboard, from first through fifth place winners: Stephen Muglia, Kai Wescoat, Noah Goetsch, Evan Wienert and Micah Stewart.

Legends Shortboard, from first through third place winners: Perry Creef, Ricky Brake and Michael Payne.

Junior Mens Longboard first and second place winners: William Forrest and Evan Wienert.

Legends Longboard first and second place winners: Michael Payne and Perry Creef.

Open Bodyboard: Curren Brieholz, first place.
