Cross country runners heading for state meet

Two Cape Hatteras Secondary cross country team members are going to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state meet on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Kernersville.
On Nov. 2 at the 1A regional meet at Northside, Shank Austin and Chloe Flythe qualified for the state meet.
Austin, a junior, finished in 12th place with a time of 18:37:00. Flythe, a ninth grader, finished 7th with a time of 21:54.
Also participating in the regional meet for Cape Hatteras were Jackson Pullen at 21:55 and Trafford Hill at 23:36, as well as Hayley Rosell at 27:36, Casia Ensenat 28:02, Jorah Midgette at 31:26 and Lexus Meekins at 31:57.
Going to the state 1A meet for Manteo High School is Tiffany Fenz.
Currituck County High School is sending an all-girls team to the state meet. Running in the 2A race for Currituck are Lilly East, Jasmine Gorney, Sydney MacDonalds, Kaia Myhre, Ashley Reinke and Hailee Reinke.
First Flight High School will send six girls and seven boys to the 2A state meet.
Running in the girls race are Tatum Dermatas, Emma Hartnett, Maggie McNinch, Madison Pugh, Lily Snow and Maddy Wagner.
Running for First Flight in the boys race are Max Bowlin, Warner Campbell, Joseph Davidson, Zach Hughes, Aiden May, Trent Sylvia and Tyler Sylvia.
