Outer Banks Food Truck Showdown. 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Outer Banks Event Site, 6800 S. Croatan Hwy., Nags Head. Admission to the event, parking and live music performances are free. Bring money to sample food trucks’ offerings and beverages.

Tyrrell County Genealogical and Historical Society at 2:30 p.m., Senior Citizens Center, 406 Broad St., Columbia. Featured speaker is Marco Gibbs speaking about Native Americans who lived in the greater Tyrrell County area.

Beach Food Pantry Benefit. 3 to 6 p.m. at Poor Richard’s Sandwich Shop, 303 Queen Elizabeth Ave., Manteo. All proceeds go to Beach Food Pantry. Barbecue and chicken plates including sides $10, Kill Devil Rum serving hot and cold specialty drinks, live music by the Wilders.

Handel’s Messiah Benefit Performance. 4 to 5:30 p.m. at First Flight High School, 100 Veterans Drive, Kill Devil Hills. The performance is presented by Dare County Youth Orchestra with support from the Alice Ford Pratt and William Spach Pratt Memorial Fund.

Annual Sea Bags Trunk Show. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Buxton Village Books, 47918 NC Hwy. 12, Buxton. Their biggest expanded inventory event of the year. Browse their extensive Sea Bags collection, including many exclusive and one-of-a-kind designs.

Beach Apparatus Drill. 2 p.m. at Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station Historic Site. 23645 NC Hwy. 12, Rodanthe. Chicamacomico’s keeper, the Captain and his surfmen will do the reenactment drill of the Breeches Buoy Rescue. Includes a narrative of the life-saving service.
