It’s a new year – volunteer!

A volunteer fair is set for Cape Hatteras Secondary on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 9 to 11 a.m.
The fair, a DECA community awareness project, is open to all adults and students.
If you’re looking to start the New Year working with volunteer programs, this is the time and place to meet representatives of Hatteras Island’s volunteer groups.
The project is organized by Cape Hatteras Secondary students Amber Harrell, Zachary Huising, Conner Tawes and Jadon Midgett.
The goal of the fair is to make students and the community aware of volunteer opportunities on Hatteras Island. Volunteer programs that would like to participate can call DECA sponsor Suzanne Jennette at 252-995-5730, ext. 3118 or email 21harrellam81@daretolearn.org.
In a separate effort, the four students are participating in Ready, Set APP! 2020, a competition initiative by the North Carolina Business Committee for Education and sponsored by Lenovo.
The team, now in Phase II of the competition, is developing a computer application that will help users find volunteer opportunities on Hatteras Island.
