Midgett retires after more than 30 years of service to Judicial Services

Bertie Kay Midgett wears a tiara declaring her “officially retired.”

After 30.5 years in Judicial Services, Midgett officially retired Jan. 31, 2020. Her first day of work as an office assistant was Feb. 26, 1990.

In 1996, she was named Judicial Services coordinator and worked in Dare and Currituck courthouses. For the last four years, her work placing community service workers has focused on Dare County.

“I’m going to miss everybody,” said Bertie Kay Midgett, who will continue to do her craft work, attend craft fairs, be with her 86-year old mother and maintain her activities at her church, Clarks Bethel United Methodist Church in Salvo.
