In light of a projected 50 percent price increase by the company that provides curbside recycling service to Manteo residents, the Town of Manteo is asking for feedback.

The town is asking residents: Are you using the recycling service right now? How long have you been using the service? Is the roll cart satisfactory or unsatisfactory for your recycling needs? What kind of a job is the vendor doing now with the curbside service? Is it acceptable or unacceptable for the vendor to take the recyclables to be incinerated at a waste-to-energy facility? How important is this recycling service to you?

The town is exploring recycling options if the current vendor withdraws from providing the town sponsored service. Feedback and suggestions may be made by emailing recycling@manteonc.gov or by calling the town at 473-2133. Public comments will be shared with Manteo elected officials, staff and the community as they weigh the curbside recycling cost versus benefit and explore options.
