Carol Marie Saunders Banks, of Grandy, was born in Norfolk, Va. and she died March 27, 2020. She was born November 17, 1956 to the late Carroll Melvin Sanders and Jeannie Bickford Saunders.

She was a retired bus driver for Currituck County Public Schools and a member of Coinjock Baptist Church.

She is survived by children Jennifer Carol Banks Ayers and husband Kevin of Elizabeth City, Shannon Marie Banks and fiancé Jeff Pleasant of Grandy and Jake Banks of Grandy; grandchildren Jeffrey Pleasant, Steven Banks, Abigail Midgette, Jonathon Banks, Trevor Pleasant, Claudia Adinolfi and Brantly Banks; siblings William “Billy” Saunders of Grandy, Clarissa Saunders Vance of Grandy and Susan McClanahan of Point Harbor and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents, she was proceeded in death by brother Nathan “Tommy” Saunders.

The family will hold a private memorial service. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Dare Challenge in Wanchese.
