Third positive test result for COVID-19 reported by Dare County Division of Public Health

A novel coronavirus, named Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), was identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China in 2019. The illness caused by this virus has been named coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Dare County Division of Public Health has announced the third positive test result for COVID-19. The individual became symptomatic and was tested in another state.
The individual remains in another state and has not traveled to North Carolina since the fall of 2019, according to a Dare County press release, which also stated that the individual has fully recovered from the COVID-19 virus.
The case will show up as Dare County’s first case with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services since the individual provided a Dare County address when tested.
