Patricia “Pat” Hagen was born on July 24, 1947 in Bethesda, Maryland. She died unexpectedly in Kill Devils Hills on April 6, 2020 at 72.

Pat was born an only child of two naval officers. As a child, Pat lived several years in Japan while her parents served in the Armed Forces. While living in Virginia, she attended T.C. Williams High School where she graduated. She attended the University of Florida and later transferred to Old Dominion University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in health policy. She obtained employment with Federal Department of Health and Human Services and sustained her career with the United States government for 35 years. She was also a licensed Realtor and investor.

Pat enjoyed rehabilitating homes to resell, playing tennis, swimming, water aerobics, walking her dog, and rumba. She worked with students in the foreign student exchange program.

Pat is survived by her husband, Dr. Walter Barwick; stepdaughter Mitzi Barwick; stepson Scott Barwick; daughter-in-law LaChonde Martin-Barwick; and grandchildren Matthew and Jeremiah Barwick. She is also survived by a host of friends.
