Evelyn Byrum Hobbs, of Elizabeth City, died April 17, 2020 with her son by her bedside. She was born in Tyner on October 16, 1921 to the late Ernest Ray and Annie Baccus Byrum. She was the widow of her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Bonnie Lee Hobbs. She was a member of Fountain of Life Church for eighty years, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir, and was past president and secretary of the Ladies Ministry. She was a well-known Avon representative in Northeastern North Carolina for thirty years with many loyal customers.

She is survived by son Randy Lee Hobbs of Norfolk, Va.; daughter Renee H. Jones of Wilson; granddaughter Courtney R. Jones of Elizabeth City; along with many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Earcle B. Riddick, Sylvia B. Biggs and Anna B. White; brother Ernest Ray Byrum; and grandson William Christopher Jones.

A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date. A private service will be held in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
