Paul David Wernock, 73, of Rodanthe, died May 1, 2020, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Born in Bayonne, NJ on May 22, 1946, he was the son of the late Helen J. Bielen Wernock and Paul J. Wernock.
During his retirement, Paul worked as a foreman for a construction company. He was a volunteer for the Cape Hatteras National Seashore as well as the Manahawkin Fire Department during his years living in New Jersey.
His hobbies included researching and collecting trains, woodworking, boating, golfing, fishing and most recently playing POGO and enjoying time with his children and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by children Robert Wernock of Kill Devil Hills and Jessica Smith of Palm Bay, Fla.; grandchildren PFC John W. Smith IV of Fort Drum, NY, Aleah M. Lane of Kill Devil Hills, Leilah S. Smith of Kill Devil Hills and Lilliana M. Hirst of Palm Bay, Fla.; and sibling Marty Wernock of Lutz, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Rob Wernock of Toms River, NJ.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of Paul’s life will be held in the future.
