To the Editor:

Welcome to the OBX . . . the next COVID-19 hotspot!

As we open the floodgates (AKA the bridges) to all the people trying to escape to the island I have noticed something which is very disturbing to me, while in Home Depot I would say 80% of the patrons and employees were not wearing masks, on the other hand, a couple hours later, while at Lowes, 90% of patrons and 100% of employees were wearing facial protection (a well deserved THANK YOU to Lowes). I guess Lowes shoppers are more empathetic and are hoping to curve the spread of this Pandemic.

It would be one thing if wearing a mask protected oneself from getting the virus, it only keeps you from spreading the virus.

My apologies, in advance, for the following rant. I woke at 3 am with a dry cough and very sore throat. It alarms me due to the fact that I have an 80 year old mother with heart issues. I don’t care what your pathetic excuse is for not wearing a mask (e.g., I am too manly, it does not match my outfit, it defies my constitutional right to be stupid and indirectly killing other Americans, my Orange Savior refuses to wear one), all I am saying, there are always consequences for one’s actions! Please be safe!
