Mary Elizabeth Copeland Babb, 82, of Point Harbor, died June 23, 2020 at Currituck Health and Rehab. Born in Atoy, Texas on June 10, 1938 to the late Archie Lofton Walker and Mattie Ruth Reedy, she was the wife of William Luther Babb of the residence.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Elizabeth Ann Avants of Rusk, Texas, Karen Dianne Moore of Fla., Teresa Kay Morgan of Fla. and Paula Ruth Haney of Hagerstown, Md.; sons William Lofton Babb of Fla. and Ricky O’Neal Copeland of Austin, Texas; step-son Jeff W. Trexler of SC; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings Mattie Louise Copeland, Etta Ruth Pearson and Truman Walker.

A service was held June 27 at Grandy Community Church with the Rev. John Ogden and the Rev. Ricky O’Neal Copeland officiating. Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to www.TwifordFH.com.
