Phyllis Wise Hooper, 91, died June 22, 2020 at her home in Southern Shores. Married to Dwight Hooper for 63 years, she is survived by children Betty, Buddy, David and Mike; grandsons Jamie and David and great-grandchildren Ryu and Serenity.

Phyllis was born in Elizabeth City on December 16, 1928, raised in Stumpy Point by Dewey Wise (PopDo) and Josephine Meekins (Granny) and older brother Kipland. She taught business education to disadvantaged adults with the Norfolk Public Schools until retirement.

Phyllis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kitty Hawk.

Her family will celebrate her life in a private service on the anniversary of her marriage.
